Atrac 4.5 Minidisc deck. Priced middle of the range with “an emphasis on sound quality” according to Sony. Aluminium front panel, digital REC level, R-Core transformer, 'Wide Bit Stream' support, two-line front panel display, and supports automatic copying of CD-Text track titles when recording from a Sony CD deck connected with CONTROL A1.
Supports Sony S-link, so it can connect with similar Sony products. Can also work with the PCLK-MD1 PC connection kit.
Remote: RM-D18M (see product park source). Minidisc.org says it shipped with the RM-D17 remote (maybe foreign markets?)
Guts are identical to MDS-PC1.
