I live my “MDLife” in a rather peculiar way, but I truly do enjoy it! I have a huge physical music collection, spanning many CDs, records, cassettes, and other formats. Many of them aren't to be found on streaming services, here in the US or even internationally. Some are rather rare and expensive, so playing around with the original copies I have is nerve-wracking. Instead, being able to toss them on an MD and take them with me was what attracted me to the format. At least that way I could keep some sense of physical interaction, seeing as I was bored to tears by DAPs and things of that nature.
I decided to fill this disc with songs that, as far as I can tell with some fairly extensive searching, aren't available on any subscription streaming service anywhere. Several are even analog recordings from my collection, on my own equipment. This particular disc has a lot of new wave and post-punk stuff from Japan in the 80's, but there's other stuff mixed in as well.
I don't look down on streaming services or anything - in fact, one could even see this tracklist as a wishlist for them! I just happen to have an interest in music that often lives in their blind spot.
